1) Over 70,000 Travis Scott fans sign petition to bring rapper back to Coachella 2023
Travis Scott fans are backing up the rapper ahead of Coachella 2023. A petition has been signed by more than 70,000 people to request the Coachella management to let the rapper perform at the festival.
The online poll was launched on Sunday after Scott was replaced by HarryStyles for the music lineup. This comes after the 30-year-old came under fire when 11 people were killed during his Astroworld concert.
2) [School Feeding] Caterers fully paid for 2021 2nd term academic year – Gender Minister
The Government of Ghana has fully paid all caters under the Ghana School Feeding Programme for the second term of the 2021 academic year, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has said.
A statement issued on Thursday, January 27 said “This is to notify the caterers of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCEs) and the general public that the government has fully paid caterers for the second term of the 2021 Academic year.
“Caterers are kindly entreated to cook good and nutritious meals in the right portions for our children.”
3) Greece allows music in bars and restaurants again as COVID cases ease
Greece will allow music in restaurants and bars again and extend their operating hours as it lifts some of the restrictions imposed last month now that coronavirus infections and the pressure on hospitals are easing, authorities said on Thursday.
“We have decided to scale back the restrictions, taking into consideration the course of the pandemic in terms of cases which have been declining in recent weeks,” Health Minister Thanos Plevris said in a televised statement.
4) Disney says it’s ‘taking different approach’ for Snow White remake after criticism
Walt Disney Co says it is “taking a different approach” for its upcoming live-action remake of animated movie “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, following criticism from actor Peter Dinklage.
In an interview on comedian Marc Maron’s podcast “WTF” on Monday, Dinklage, who has a form of dwarfism known as achondroplasia, said the casting of a Latina actress in the titular role was “progressive” but called the story, based on the 19th-century fairytale, “backward”.
5) Haaland snubs Messi, Ronaldo to name Lewandowski nō 1 footballer on the planet
Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland named his fellow superstar Robert Lewandowski as the best footballer on the planet right now, with Karim Benzema and Lionel Messi completing his top three.
In an interview with ESPN, the Norwegian striker was asked to name his top three players in world football, and his Bayern counterpart pipped Messi and Real Madrid centre-forward Karim Benzema to top spot.
