1) Boy drowns in abandoned galamsey pit as tried saving his brother
A 13-year-old boy has drowned in an abandoned illegal mining pit while trying to save his younger brother at Patriensa close to Konongo in the Ashanti region.
The deceased, Emmanuel Aboagye, died in the process of saving his nine-year-old younger brother, Yaw who fell into the pit first. According to residents, his death brings to a total of four children who have drowned in the over 100 pits abandoned in the area in the past three years.
2) Kotota International Airport to welcome private jet terminal in Jan. 22
On January 26, 2022, McDan Group will officially open a private jet terminal at the Kotoka International Airport. Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group, Dr. Daniel McKorley, in an interview noted that every private jet flying into Ghana would have to pass through this terminal.
He furthered that this commercial private jet terminal yet to be outdoored will employ over 400 people. Dr McKorley described the establishment of the private jet terminal as an opportunity for businesses to thrive more in the sub-region and the continent as large.
3) Bitcoin loses over $3,000 in another crunching fall
Bitcoin dropped 6.13% to $47,606.92 on Tuesday, losing $3,111.19 from its previous close. Bitcoin, the world’s biggest and best-known cryptocurrency, is down 31% from the year’s high of $69,000 on Nov. 10.
Ether, the coin linked to the ethereum blockchain network, dropped 5.57 % to $3,812.6 on Tuesday, losing $224.8 from its previous close.
4) Mbappe trashes transfer talks, eyes trophies with PSG
Kylian Mbappe said he does not plan to leave Paris St Germain in January despite mounting speculation about his future and that he hoped to add to his trophy haul at the end of the season. Mbappe is free to negotiate with Real and other clubs next month but said he was focused on beating the Spanish side when they face off in the Champions League last 16 in February.
“I’ll give everything I have to win the Champions League, the league and cup. And to give all the pleasure to the fans because they deserve it,” Mbappe told CNN, adding he did not regret telling PSG in July that he wanted to leave. “I was honest. I gave a feeling, I gave what I have in my heart,” he said, adding, “I’m happy to stay.”
5) Jada Pinkett Smith reveals journey of battling autoimmune disorder
Jada Pinkett Smith said she is bravely battling alopecia which caused all her hair to fall off.
In a recent Instagram video, the actress weighed in on her battle with the autoimmune disorder which attacks hair follicles resulting in bald spots.
In the clip, Jada is seen with her shaved head pointing to a thin bald line across her head. She wrote, “Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!” Jada then explained in the clip, “Now at this point, I can only laugh. Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Look at that,’ while pointing to the bald spot.
