1) BlackBerry to sell patents related to mobile devices, messaging for $600m

BlackBerry Ltd, said on Monday it will sell its legacy patents primarily related to mobile devices, messaging and wireless networking for $600 million to a special purpose vehicle formed to acquire the company’s patent assets.

BlackBerry said the transaction with the vehicle, Catapult IP Innovations Inc, will not impact customers’ use of its products or services.

2) State launches fresh probe against man arrested with over 600 ATM Cards

The state has commenced a new investigation into the activities of a Nigerian national arrested with some 656 Automated Teller Machine (ATM) debit cards connected to nine banks operating in Ghana and Nigeria.

In court on Monday, an Assistant State Attorney for the Republic told the High Court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo that, the state has launched a new investigation into the activities of the accused and could not make it public.

Bachir Musa Aminou, 42, who is facing two counts of electronic trafficking and stealing at the court, pleaded not guilty and has been remanded by the Circuit Court.

3) U.S. in fears, calls for talks after N.Korea launched Hwasong-12 ballistic missile

North Korea confirmed on Monday it had launched a Hwasong-12 ballistic missile, the same weapon it had once threatened to target the U.S. territory of Guam with, sparking fears the nuclear-armed state could resume long-range testing.

The launch of the intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) was first reported by South Korean and Japanese authorities on Sunday. It was the seventh test conducted by North Korea this month and the first time a nuclear-capable missile of that size has been launched since 2017.

4) BTS singer Jimin hospitalized for appendicitis, tests positive for COVID-19

Jimin, a singer and dancer with the K-pop group BTS, has tested positive for coronavirus and also underwent surgery for acute appendicitis, his management agency Big Hit Music said on Monday.

Jimin, whose full name is Park Ji-min, went to hospital on Sunday after suffering from sudden abdominal pain along with a mild sore throat, Big Hit Music said in a statement.

He tested positive for the coronavirus, and underwent surgery for the appendicitis on Monday, the statement added.

5) Chelsea Hudson-Odoi set to join Black Stars after agreeing to switch allegiance

Chelsea ace, Callum Hudson-Odoi has finally agreed to represent the Black Stars of Ghana after meeting incoming coach Chris Hughton. 

Sources revealed the player had a meeting with the coach at the Labadi Beach Hotel, where he has been lodging since arriving for a short break.

Hudson-Odoi, who has represented England at senior level can still switch allegiance due to the new FIFA rules.
