The Concerned Chiefs of the North (CCN-Ghana) have condemned the recent killings in both the Wa Municipality in the Upper West Region and the Bole District in the Savannah Region.

In a statement, the Concerned Chiefs expressed their deep disturbance over the recent spate of targeted killings.

“We condemn in the strongest terms these senseless and brutal acts of violence that have resulted in the loss of precious lives, and we express our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and call on the security agencies to intensify their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” they said.

The statement urged the government and the security to take action.

“We urge the government to take immediate and decisive action to address the security concerns in these regions and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.”

“We also call on the traditional authorities, religious leaders, and civil society organizations to join forces in condemning these heinous crimes and promoting peace and unity in our communities,” they urged.

The recent murders in Wa have raised the number of people killed in the municipality to 17 over the past three years, while the Bole District has recorded 21 deaths in the last two years.

The most recent killings in both areas involved victims who had their throats slit.

The police administration has increased security in the Wa Municipality and Bole Districts.

In Wa Municipality, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, the MP for Wa Central, has announced a GH¢100,000 reward for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
