Black Princesses captain Stella Nyamekye has shared insights on how the team has adapted to the challenging weather conditions in Bogota.

Despite the significant difference in weather from what they are used to in Ghana, Nyamekye noted that it has not hindered their training effectiveness.

The Black Princesses are in Colombia for their seventh consecutive U20 World Cup appearance, where they have been training in preparation for their first match.

Nyamekye acknowledged that while the weather conditions are quite different, the team’s frequent training in these conditions has helped them adjust quickly. She stated, “The weather here is completely different from Ghana’s, making it a bit challenging to play.

However, our consistent training under these conditions has helped us get used to it.”

She also mentioned improvements in the team’s performance compared to their time in Ghana and expressed optimism for their upcoming friendly matches.

Historically, the Black Princesses have struggled in the group stages, failing to advance past this stage in the last six editions.

Nyamekye emphasized the team’s focus on progressing to the knockout stages, believing that achieving this goal would advance women’s football in Ghana.

“This is our seventh appearance, and our goal is to reach the knockout stages to elevate football in Ghana,” she added.

The Black Princesses are in Group E with Austria, familiar opponents New Zealand, and favorites Japan, facing a tough challenge to advance beyond the group stage.
