The Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has affirmed the government’s commitment to restoring peace in Bawku, a region currently experiencing violent clashes.

While addressing attendees at the “Agent of Peace” campaign organized by the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) on Sunday, November 3, Asamoah Boateng expressed his deep concern regarding the ongoing conflict and promised that the government would take all necessary actions to ensure stability in the area.
“To the citizens, I urge you to reach out to your neighbors, bridge the gaps that divide you, and work towards a future where peace prevails.
“It is a very unfortunate situation in Bawku, and if you have never visited, you may not fully grasp what is happening.
I have been there numerous times, and we all want peace to prevail. Whatever it takes, the government will do everything possible to facilitate peace in Bawku,” he stated.
The continuing clashes have resulted in the closure of schools and major businesses, significantly threatening lives and livelihoods.
The violence has intensified following the return of a rival chief, Alhaji Seidu Abagre, who had been in exile. Recent ambushes on travelers have further escalated the situation.
In an effort to restore order, a curfew from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm has been imposed and is being enforced by security agencies.
