The Member of Parliament for the Bongo Constituency, Hon. Edward Bawa has stated that the country is ‘’sitting on a time bomb when it comes to the power sector’’.

The NDC MP stated that ‘’beyond just the debt accumulation that has been occasioned, and self-inflicted, we also have a situation … that requires the construction of new power plants immediately, lest the nation is plunged in another power crisis in 2026’’ whiles quoting his interaction with officers of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO).
The Member of the Energy Committee in Parliament stated that ”there is a difference between installed capacity and available capacity and that even though GRIDCO reports dependable capacity at 4700 megawatts… and actually, the available capacity they have been operating for some time now is 3579 megawatts’’
The MP was speaking at a media interview on Thursday morning whiles responding to a recent remark by President Akufo-Addo attributing the chaos of dumsor to Former President Mahama.
