Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to lead an administration where no citizen will have to “worry about” where their next meal will come from.
He articulated his commitment to guiding the country toward a focus on needs-based and sustainable economic development, underpinned by robust industrialization that promotes growth and shared prosperity.

“We will lift our people out of poverty and ensure that no Ghanaian goes to bed hungry,” he stated to a large audience at the Sekondi Methodist Park, where they gathered to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Christian Faith Church International.
Mahama envisions a Ghana where “no one is left behind,” emphasizing equal access to opportunities for all, especially in a nation where “every child” receives quality education, and where every family enjoys the dignity of decent work and thrives in safe communities.
The former President aims to utilize the 24-hour economic model—the cornerstone of the NDC’s 2024 election manifesto—as a means to “emancipate” the country from its current economic difficulties.
He elaborated that, “The 24-hour economy model will create opportunities for our youth, boost productivity, and increase our exports, thereby reducing our reliance on imports and generating foreign exchange that will help stabilize our currency.”
By focusing on job creation through industrialization, agricultural modernization, and support for small businesses, he seeks to “rejuvenate our economy.”
With a commitment to fostering an environment that ensures equal opportunities for all to succeed, Mr. Mahama is optimistic that families will be able to support themselves and ease the fear of hunger.
“Our people deserve to smile again.”
To achieve this vision, he urged the involvement of all Ghanaians while promising “strong leadership, honest leadership that accepts responsibility and does not blame others for its shortcomings; leadership that embraces accountability and does not cover up…”
