Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), popularly known as NAPO, has stated that Dr. Bawumia’s administration is committed to collaborating with anti-corruption advocates and institutions, regardless of any differences, to combat the scourge of corruption.

Dr. Prempeh made these comments during a ceremony on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, when journalist and anti-corruption crusader Manasseh Azure Awuni presented copies of his new book, “The President Ghana Never Got,” to the Bawumia 2024 Campaign.
He noted that Manasseh’s work aligns closely with the NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s determination to fight corruption through the use of technology, as well as the appropriate institutional and legal frameworks.
While accepting the book on behalf of Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Prempeh clarified that this gesture should not be seen as an endorsement of the book or its content, but rather as support for Manasseh’s continued efforts in the fight against corruption.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, while accepting copies of Manasseh Azure Awuni’s new book on behalf of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and himself, encouraged the journalist to continue his efforts in journalism and anti-corruption advocacy.
“My acceptance of these books on behalf of His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and myself is to encourage you to continue in your journalistic exploits and as an anti-corruption crusader,” Dr. Prempeh stated.
However, he was clear that this gesture should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the book’s content.
“It is in no way to be taken as an endorsement of the contents of the book, which we are both yet to read. I must say this emphatically because of the snippets I have come across from the book launch.”
During the event, Dr. Prempeh reiterated his confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to fighting corruption, expressing that he would be relentless in addressing the issue. He predicted that by the end of 2028, Manasseh might find himself documenting the significant strides made by Dr. Bawumia in combating corruption.
“The Flagbearer, that I know, Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, is going to fight corruption without fear or favor; watch this space. And who knows, come December 2028 after his first term, we might be seeing snippets of a different sort, perhaps in your next book about the 6th President of the 4th Republic of this country,” he remarked.
Dr. Prempeh also playfully addressed Manasseh’s recent preference for Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang over him, saying, “I know you prefer Naana Jane to Napo, and that’s okay. But I bet you, by the end of November this year, you might have a change of heart and mind, and who knows, you might even become a disciple.”
