President John Dramani Mahama has assured that the long-delayed Sewua Hospital will be completed by the end of this year.

He expressed his commitment to reviving several stalled projects initiated during his previous administration, which had been left unfinished under the recently outgone government.
Speaking to the clergy in Kumasi on Sunday, President Mahama said, “I’ve assured Otumfuo that we’ll complete the Sewua Hospital this year. Its completion will help decongest the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, allowing critical rehabilitation works to proceed there.”
The President also revealed that he had engaged the managers of Euroget De-Invest S.A, the contractors responsible for the Afari Military Hospital project, and received assurances that work would soon resume to ensure its swift completion.
Beyond healthcare, President Mahama addressed other key infrastructure projects, including the Suame Interchange and various roadworks, which had been initiated without secured funding. He acknowledged the urgent need to find funding sources to fast-track these projects and ease the hardship faced by the people of Kumasi.
“We are actively seeking funding to accelerate work on these projects so we can alleviate the inconvenience residents of Kumasi are enduring,” he stated.
On the stalled Kejetia Market Phase II project — delayed due to the government’s debt exchange program — President Mahama expressed optimism about resuming bilateral negotiations with lenders now that official talks with the creditor committee have concluded.
“Now that we have finished the official negotiations with the official creditor committee, it opens the way for us to have bilateral discussions with the lenders in order that they can resume work on Kumasi Market phase 2,” he added.
