The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has stated that if elected President in December 2024, his administration will conduct a thorough audit of all mining concessions in the country and identify their owners.

He emphasized that the audit would not only encompass the concessions themselves but also reveal the individuals or entities behind them.
Mahama explained that the purpose of this audit is to ensure that those who have been granted mining concessions are held accountable for any illegal mining activities that have taken place on their lands.
He made this announcement during an event he referred to as “Worship with the Clergy” in Accra on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as part of his campaign for the upcoming elections.
