John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reiterated his commitment to addressing the sale of government lands.

During his Governance Forum in Accra on Thursday, October 31, Mahama vowed to investigate the issue of government-looted lands, not only in the Greater Accra Region but also in other parts of the country.
“As I promised the chiefs of the Ga State, we will conduct an inquiry into the sale of stolen government lands and the implementation of the Accra Redevelopment policy.
I assure you that the investigation into government-looted lands will extend beyond Greater Accra. We are aware of similar issues in Kumasi, Ho, and Tamale.
“We will cover all 16 regions and commit to rigorously implementing this inquiry.”
Mahama also announced his intention to establish an independent value-for-money office tasked with reviewing government procurements.
“To ensure that we get value for money and proper contract awards, we will create an independent value-for-money office responsible for scrutinizing any government procurements over $5 million or a lower threshold determined by Parliament.
“Parliament can set a lower amount, but every contract above a certain figure will be subjected to an independent value-for-money audit.”
