The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reiterated its refusal to sign a peace pact ahead of the December elections.

Despite the National Peace Council’s ongoing efforts to secure the NDC’s agreement, the party made it clear at the National Youth Party Leaders Conference, organized by the International Republican Institute and the National Peace Council, that it will not commit to any peace pact before the elections.
During the event, NDC Deputy National Youth Organizer Osman Ayariga emphasized that the party will not agree to any peace agreement until its conditions are met, including securing justice for the victims of electoral violence from the 2020 General Elections.
“Peace Council and stakeholders here in Ghana still seek justice and we are unapologetic about the request we make. You cannot be preaching peace in the absence of justice.
We are not interested in peace conversations in the absence of justice. If there is justice, automatically there will be peace.
The two are mutually inclusive. They cannot be preaching one thing and leave another.
“Our national chairman has stated emphatically that we are not signing any peace pact in the absence of the things that we seek and that amounts to justice.
“So we, the youth of this party, we don’t only support it, but we are not interested in any peace conversation in the absence of justice,” he stated.
