The Ministry of Education has responded to recent comments made by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) regarding payments made by the Ministry.
The Ministry clarified that it has fulfilled its financial obligations to WAEC, disbursing a total of GHS 167,976,815 since July 2024.
In a letter dated December 20, 2024, WAEC officially acknowledged receipt of GHS 25,000,000, which is part of the funding for the 2024 WASSCE (School Candidates) examination fees.

WAEC later requested an additional GHS 35,000,000 to support the processing of the 2024 WASSCE results, which the Ministry promptly disbursed.
Despite the official documentation confirming the receipt of the GHS 25,000,000 payment, the WAEC PRO publicly denied that the funds had been received.
The Ministry expressed surprise at this denial and urged the WAEC PRO to verify facts internally before making public statements that could mislead the public or cast aspersions on the Ministry’s efforts.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring the release of the 2024 WASSCE results and urged the public to remain calm as it works closely with WAEC to resolve any outstanding issues.
