Kwesi Pratt, a renowned Ghanaian journalist and Managing Editor at the Insight newspaper, has expressed his opposition to plans by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), led by Nigerian President Ahmed Tinubu, to deploy West African soldiers into Niger to reinstate deposed President Mohammed Bazuom.

The seasoned journalist has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for allowing ECOWAS to contemplate such a move, especially after Boko Haram terrorists have ravaged the nation. According to him, the leaders of these ECOWAS countries have allowed terrorists like Boko Haram to wreak havoc in Nigeria and insurgents to attack several of their countries without a coordinated deployment of troops. However, they have now chosen to endanger the lives of soldiers in order to restore an overthrown President to power.

“You cannot fight Boko Haram. You’ve allowed your citizens to be kidnapped, to be killed, to be molested. Your villages have been ransacked by Boko Haram.

You can’t deal with Boko Haram you’re going to move your soldiers to Niger to go and fight to restore the President of Niger? Are you crazy? You ran away from Boko Haram. You hold a meeting in Abuja to prepare to go to wage war on Niger? What are you taking the people of Nigeria for? Are you mad? Are you crazy? “He said

He was said to have advised the ECOWAS Soldiers not to allow themselves be used to fight such war, rather they should refused to be deployed to Niger.

He went further saying “I believe very strongly that West African soldiers are human beings. They are sensible. They know their interests and the interests of their countries. And that no West African soldier is ready to go and die a foolish death in Niger,”

Meanwhile, the West African leaders are meeting today in Accra Ghana to deliberate on how to restore the democratically elected President of Niger Bazoum
