Africa’s leading YouTuber, Wodemaya, has sent his congratulations to Blakk Rasta, encouraging him to secure the first-ever Reggae Grammy album for Africa.
Wodemaya, known for sharing positive narratives about the continent, expressed his admiration for Blakk Rasta’s innovative Kuchoko style, which merges traditional African sounds and instruments with Reggae music.

The term “Kuchoko” itself is an onomatopoeia representing the distinctive Reggae shuffle and organ sound.
In a Facebook post, Wodemaya stated, “BLAKK RASTA’S SALAGA SOLJAH album, the only AFRICAN Reggae album nominated at the Grammys, has received CRITICAL ACCLAIM from Jamaica’s DancehallMag – the LARGEST Reggae/Dancehall blog globally.
“This is a SIGNIFICANT achievement for Africa. Check out the album before you comment. Long live Reggae Music. The powerful voice of LIBERATION!”
In a related note, legendary Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall artist Anthony B has also backed Blakk Rasta’s Salaga Soljah album, featuring on the hit track “Barber Shop.”
Blakk Rasta’s Salaga Soljah is the sole Reggae album among 75 contenders for the prestigious award, competing against notable artists like Bob Marley, UB40, Vybz Kartel, Akae Beka, and Taj Weekes.
If successful, it would mark the first time an African album wins the Reggae Album of the Year since the award’s inception.
The nominees for the 67th Grammy Academy Awards will be announced on November 8.
