Some workers of Electrochem Ghana Limited in Ada have staged a protest over what they describe as the unfair and abrupt termination of their contracts.
According to the aggrieved employees, the company failed to provide adequate notice or follow due process before ending their employment. They are therefore demanding answers from management regarding the decision.
One affected worker, who spoke to Adom News on condition of anonymity, said:
“They terminated our contracts without any notice, which is not the right procedure. We are calling on management to come out and tell us why our contracts were terminated. They need to give us answers.”
Electrochem Ghana Limited, a wholly Ghanaian-owned company established in 2017, operates within the salt and chemical industries. The company holds a 41,000-acre concession at Ada Songor and has set a production target of one million metric tons of salt annually for both domestic and export markets.
In its medium-term plan, Electrochem intends to scale up operations to supply raw materials for a chlor-alkali plant, aimed at producing caustic soda and other related chemicals.
