Ghanaian actor Alex Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, has openly expressed his admiration for former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the NDC.

During a live band performance at a funeral, Agya Koo revealed his affection for Mahama and spoke about their regular interactions.

“We have never had an election in Ghana before and fight. When Nana Addo is in power, I am part of the government, if Mahama also comes to power, I will be part of the government.

“You don’t like John Mahama more than I do. He even invites me to his home, and we sit in his hall to have conversations. Do you like him more than I do?” Agya stated.

His revelation came after the crowd chanted ‘Mahama’ during his performance at the funeral.

This led him to abruptly stop his singing because he was unhappy with what happened.

In a video shared on X, the actor is seen ending his performance to respond to the person who chanted Mahama’s name. Although Agya Koo has publicly supported the New Patriotic Party and President Akufo-Addo, his recent praise for John Mahama and mentions of meeting the former president seem to have happened after he was called back to perform.

The actor, visibly displeased, explained that some members of his music band are key members of the opposition NDC.

“We are all Ghanaians, and we should all be tolerant. Some of our band members are in the NDC, but we work together,” he told the crowd.

He noted that one band member, who used to be a teacher, is now an NPP organizer, while the drummers are NDC supporters.

“This lady used to be a teacher in the Central Region, but now she is an organizer in the NPP. The drummers you see here are also members of the NDC, but we are all doing one work and on the same team because we are all tolerant and are all Ghanaians,” he emphasized.

He then questioned the person who chanted, saying, “Why all the noise and chants? Would elections be held today? Are we voting today?”
