In Ghana, the Mastercard Foundation and Design and Technology Institute (DTI) have collaborated to launch the “Training to Thrive” program, addressing the country’s pressing issue of youth unemployment.
Despite having academic credentials, over 35,000 young individuals struggle to find employment due to a lack of practical skills and experience.
To bridge this gap, the program offers technical education and training, enabling young people to acquire skills and secure employment.

Haki Asah, a program participant, highlighted the initiative’s significance in equipping him with real-world skills.
Having returned to his village, Kulkpong, after completing high school due to limited opportunities, he lacked mentorship, training, and financial support to pursue his dreams.
Since its inception in 2021, over 1,000 young individuals have enrolled in the program, gaining practical skills and knowledge to enhance their productivity.
By combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, the program has expanded employment opportunities for young people, fostering innovation and empowering them to become future entrepreneurs.
Through this partnership, Mastercard Foundation and DTI are committed to addressing the skills gap and promoting economic growth in Ghana.
By providing access to training and resources, they are helping young individuals like Haki Asah to achieve their full potential and contribute to the country’s development.
