Zoleka Mandela author and granddaughter of South Africa’s first democratically elected President’s granddaughter Nelson Mandela has passed away.
It could be recalled that in 2022, many hearts broke after South African author Zoleka Mandela revealed that she was diagnosed with bone cancer. The mother of six shared a lengthy post about the diagnosis and left her followers saddened by discussing her children who will be left motherless when she passes on.
Zoleka was admitted at a hospital on 18 September for ongoing treatment for metastatic cancer to the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain and spinal cord.
According to the Mandela family, “Zoleka passed away on the evening of Monday, September 25th 2023, surrounded by friends and family. Our sincerest gratitude to the medical team that took care of her,”
She shared on her instagram on 17 September an update about her struggles with the cancer disease.
“I had a CT Scan administered a few weeks back, which have shown that I have blood clots as well as Fibrosis in my lung. This explains the chest pains I had been feeling.
“My Medical Oncologist has recommended blood thinners and Oral Chemo. On the upside, I’m incredibly grateful that I am still treatable! I’m off to bed … Good night … Good morning, beloved hearts! Love, the Oros Lady (I feel like my face just gets more rotund and puffy by the day!) Peace. Passion. Positivity,” she captioned a video she had shared.
