The family of Lance Corporal Michael Danso, the soldier murdered in Kasoa over a land dispute, has expressed their grief and frustration. In a statement, they lamented that despite numerous complaints, law enforcement agencies have failed to address the menace of land guards, leading to the tragic loss of their loved one.

The family described Michael as a diligent and dedicated soldier who was brutally murdered by Benlord Ababio, a notorious land guard.

They called on the Ghana Police Service, the Attorney General’s office, and other law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible for the crime face justice.

The family also highlighted the systemic issues that have allowed land guards to operate with impunity, terrorizing innocent citizens.

They urged the authorities to take decisive action to address this menace and ensure that such a tragedy never occurs again.

The statement read, in part: “We welcome you all and thank you for joining us as we mark one week since the tragic killing of our beloved Michael… We are devastated by his loss, and we demand justice… We want to use his death to highlight the broader issue of land guards and the inability of law enforcement agencies to address this menace… We urge all parties involved in the delivery of justice to sit up, be professional, and quick with justice delivery.”

The family’s statement also addressed the alleged shooter, Benlord Ababio, who they described as a “popular land guard” with a history of violence and intimidation.

They questioned his connections and how he has managed to operate with such impunity.

The Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into the case, with Benlord Ababio being interrogated for further information.
