Ghana’s Embassy in Washington, D.C., has announced that it has not yet received tickets allocated for Ghanaian supporters in the United States for the upcoming FIFA World Cup matches.

It can be recalled that President John Dramani Mahama while on an official visit to the US, said that instead of the government flying supporters from Ghana to the US, Mexico, and Canada to cheer the Black Stars, the government would rather get tickets from FIFA, for onward distribution to Ghanaians already in the US to go and support the national team.

As a result, there has been a growing interest among Ghanaians living in the United States who are seeking to secure tickets to support the Black Stars at the tournament.

In a public notice issued to the Ghanaian diaspora community on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the embassy said it was still awaiting the tickets and details on how they would be distributed.

“The Embassy of Ghana in Washington D.C. wishes to inform the Ghanaian diaspora in the United States that Mission is yet to receive tickets for the World Cup games,” the notice stated.

The embassy assured Ghanaians that information regarding ticket allocation and distribution procedures would be communicated once the tickets are received.

“As soon as mission receives the allocated tickets and modalities on how to distribute them, it will be communicated to the diaspora community accordingly,” the statement added.
