Heavy rains that swept through parts of Accra on Sunday, May 17, caused a large tree to collapse onto a section of the Achimota–West Legon road, temporarily obstructing traffic and creating difficulties for motorists using the busy stretch.

The incident occurred after several hours of rainfall accompanied by strong winds, which disrupted movement in parts of the capital and left some roads around Dansoman partially flooded.

The fallen tree occupied a significant portion of the road, leading to traffic congestion and causing delays for commuters travelling between Achimota, West Legon, and surrounding communities.

Fortunately, no casualties or major injuries were reported at the scene at the time of the incident, although motorists and nearby residents expressed concern over the potential danger posed by the collapse.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) later arrived at the scene to begin clearing operations and restore the free flow of traffic on the affected road.

The emergency response team worked to remove branches and debris scattered across the road while ensuring the area remained safe for both drivers and pedestrians.
