John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s flagbearer, has accused the ruling NPP of misleading the people of the Volta Region to win their votes.
Mahama noted that while the NPP’s support in the region is growing, it’s based on lies and deception.
He claimed that the NPP keeps spreading the false idea that the NDC hasn’t properly rewarded the Volta Region for its loyalty.
Speaking in Juapong during his four-day campaign tour of the region, Mahama emphasized that the NDC focuses on long-term development projects instead of quick, short-term benefits.
“In 2020, if you look at the results in the Volta Region, we got above 84%. If you look at the 84% it is not the highest we have gotten.
Because in Rawlings’ time, NPP used to get single digits in the Volta Region. In 2020, they climbed and in 2020 they got 14%, which means that they are making roads into the Volta Region.
“Now, what do they do? They use propaganda and they come and say ‘You vote for the NDC most of the time and yet the NDC has done nothing for you.
So, even though we can see what we have gotten under the NDC, the propaganda is so strong that you actually believe that the NDC has done nothing.
“Yet if you take the Volta Region, from electricity to water, to health to roads, everything that you find in the Volta Region was provided during the time the NDC and anytime the NPP comes into government development of infrastructure in the Volta Region comes to a halt,” he stated.
