Ghanaian TikToker Obaa Cee has bravely shared her harrowing experience of a failed marriage, marked by abandonment and emotional distress.
In a candid interview on The Delay Show, which aired on May 4, 2024, Obaa Cee revealed the tumultuous journey she endured, starting with her husband’s absence during her childbirth.
Despite being married, Obaa Cee’s husband proposed an abortion when she became pregnant with their second child, citing financial constraints.
She refused, and he threatened to abandon her, leaving her to face the challenges alone. This was not the first time she had been left alone at the hospital; she had experienced a similar situation when she gave birth out of wedlock six years earlier.
Obaa Cee recounted how her husband’s abandonment persisted, even after she gave birth. Although he covered the medical expenses, she struggled with the emotional burden of his absence and the added financial pressure.
When she refused the meagre housekeeping money he offered, he ceased financial support altogether, leaving her to navigate single motherhood alone.
The final blow came just 40 days postpartum when Obaa Cee received news of her husband’s decision to divorce her, delivered through his family members.
She recalled how his sisters came to her home, handed her an amount of money, and announced that he could no longer marry her.
Obaa Cee shared that her husband was her first love, the one who took her virginity. They dated for four years before welcoming their first child and were married when she was 23 years old.
