Adamus Resources Limited has expressed appreciation to its workers, partners and the media for their support and conduct amid the ongoing dispute over the revocation of its mining leases.
Speaking after presenting a petition to the Lands Ministry in Accra on Thursday April 30, Chief Executive Officer, Angela List commended staff for their resilience and professionalism despite the uncertainty surrounding the company’s operations, describing recent developments as regrettable.
“We regret the series of events that have ensued over the last few days. I would like to thank the workers of Adamus, our partners, our banks and the general public for showing support, especially for the workers who have been resilient and continued to work under the circumstances,” she said.
She also praised the media for what she described as balanced coverage of the issue.
“I would like to also thank members of the media for your balanced reportage on the matters,” she added.
Her comments come as government initiates a review of the revocation of Adamus Resources’ mining leases following a petition submitted by the company.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, has announced the formation of a ministerial committee to assess the petition, while an interim management team has been put in place to oversee operations at the mine during the review process.
List reiterated the company’s position that it operates responsibly and does not engage in illegal mining, stressing that Adamus has taken steps over the years to combat the menace.
“As you know, we consider ourselves one of the responsible large-scale mining companies. We have presented here ample evidence of all the actions that we have taken over the years, trying to combat the menace of illegal mining. As the mining leaseholder, we have no reason to engage in illegal mining. I will never condone that,” she said.
She added that the company’s petition includes detailed documentary evidence intended to refute the allegations made by the Minerals Commission and expressed hope that the review process will be fair and objective.
“It is our fervent hope that the petition we have presented today, which details all the documentary evidence refuting the allegations that were levelled against us by the Minerals Commission, will be considered in light of all this evidence,” she stated.
List further acknowledged the role of government officials in granting the company an opportunity to be heard, noting that this aligns with provisions under the Minerals Act.
She also assured that Adamus Resources Limited will cooperate fully with any supervisory arrangements put in place as authorities work to resolve the matter.
