The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series.
A total of 38,316 candidates participated in the examination, comprising 17,596 males and 21,131 females. However, 1,354 registered candidates were absent.

WAEC detected instances of malpractice during the examination and marking process. Consequently, the subject results of 303 candidates and the entire results of 108 candidates have been withheld, pending further investigations. Candidates can access their results online at www.waecgh.org.
In a statement issued on Friday, February 28, the council provided a breakdown of performance in key subjects:
English Language:
Grades A1-C6: 54.79%
Grade D7: 13.49%
Grade E8: 12.90%
Grade F9: 13.45%
Mathematics (Core):
Grades A1-C6: 37.44%
Grade D7: 11.00%
Grade E8: 12.30%
Grade F9: 37.42%
Integrated Science:
Grades A1-C6: 53.31%
Grade D7: 12.02%
Grade E8: 13.68%
Grade F9: 18.46%
Social Studies: 87.88% obtained grades A1-C6, 3.11% obtained grade D7, 2.26% obtained grade E8, and 5.76% obtained grade F9.
WAEC cautioned the public to be wary of scammers who promise to upgrade examination results for a fee. The Council assures that its results database is secure and that all results can be authenticated.
