Twelve people have been injured in a road crash on the accident-prone Asitey Mountain stretch in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region, with police investigating the cause of the incident.
The crash involved a Sprinter bus with registration number AS 5740-17, travelling from Akateng to Adidome. The vehicle reportedly crashed at a bend before the main Asitey Curve along the Odumase–Asesewa road on Monday, June 29.
The cause of the crash has not yet been established.
The injured, including four children, are receiving treatment at the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital in Agormanya.
Police officers who responded to the scene assisted with rescue efforts, managed traffic and have launched investigations into the incident.
The Lower Manya Krobo Divisional Police Command, which confirmed the crash to Citi News, has urged motorists, particularly those using the Asitey Mountain stretch for the first time, to exercise caution, especially during the rainy season when road conditions become more hazardous.
