The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly has begun processes to auction abandoned vehicles parked along roadsides as part of efforts to address congestion and reclaim public spaces.
Municipal Chief Executive, Frank Nkansah, said the move targets vehicles that have been left unattended for long periods.
According to the MCE, the Assembly has so far removed about 140 vehicles from roadsides across the municipality.
He noted that the abandoned vehicles have contributed to road congestion, narrowed major streets, and created environmental and security concerns for residents and businesses.
The Assembly says owners of the affected vehicles will be given notice before the auction process is carried out, in line with local government regulations.
Mr. Nkansah urged mechanics, vulcanizers, and vehicle owners to use designated workshops and avoid occupying roadsides and pavements for their operations.
He assured that similar enforcement actions will continue to ensure that roads and walkways remain accessible to motorists and pedestrians.
