Governor of District 9104 of Rotary International, Dr. Jack Andrews Dotsey, has blamed Ghana’s recurring flooding crisis on ineffective leadership, following recent floods in parts of Accra that claimed lives and destroyed properties.

Dr. Dotsey made the remarks while commenting on the latest flooding incidents that submerged homes, roads, and businesses across the capital, displacing residents and causing significant property damage.

According to him, the annual flooding is not only a natural occurrence but largely a result of poor planning, weak enforcement of building regulations, and lack of political will to implement long-term drainage solutions.

He argued that successive governments have failed to address the root causes of flooding, including choked drains, improper waste disposal, and unauthorized construction in waterways.

The Rotary Governor called on central and local government authorities to prioritize investment in drainage infrastructure, enforce building codes, and improve public education on sanitation and flood preparedness.

He added that Rotary International remains committed to supporting communities through relief efforts and advocacy, but stressed that sustainable solutions must come from government action.
